Iloilo City healthcare now offers free dialysis service

Iloilo City now offers free dialysis service. The healthcare program of the Iloilo City Government under Mayor Jerry P. Treñas received another boost with the addition of the Uswag Dialysis Center intended to offer free services to those with chronic kidney disease.

“At the centerpiece of our administration is public health that is why I made sure the dialysis center project will be realized. This is free dialysis treatment for Ilonggos who need them, and will defray them at least P4,000 fee per dialysis session” said Mayor Treñas.

The Uswag Iloilo Dialysis Center located in East Baluarte, Molo was inaugurated December last year. The health facility has three stations or dialysis machine that can serve up to six patients or equivalent to two patients per station with four hours session per patient.

The realization of the Dialysis Center is anchored on Mayor Treñas inclusive development roadmap called WHEELS or Welfare, Health and Sanitation, Education, Environmental Management, Livelihood, and Sustainability.

The Health and Sanitation aims to improve access to medical and dental services, properly maintained public toilets, better access to potable water to everyone, sustained feeding program for the children, and vaccination.

Upon his return as chief executive in 2019, Treñas vowed to level-up the quality of public services to sustainable levels and establishing a Dialysis Center and a City Hospital were among top priority investments as part of sustainable health programs.

“Sustainability refers to continuous delivery of all government programs, projects, activities, and services,” Treñas emphasized; hence, he shared that more Dialysis Centers will be established to serve those who are in need and who cannot afford.

The second dialysis center is now underway in Brgy. San Isidro, Jaro with its health center undergoing retrofitting to function as a dialysis center with a bigger capacity to serve more constituents of Iloilo City.
